When Smith tilts his, he goes forward as in FORWARD, not to the side as some on here may be thinking. I tried this and honestly, i did feel a difference. I felt that on my singles, the stick in my trad grip hand wasn't getting a mind of it's own and wanting to be a b*tch and fly all over the place... i didn't have to kick it's ass into behaving like a good stick should. It would be explained by the fact that the stick is hitting a surface that is angled in a way that the physics of the bounce match the physiology of what you have going on in your hands. The rebound of the stick wants to bounce out and up instead of into you and up... get it? There is centrifugal force making the stick want to fly away from you, which adds to the force that is working 'for you', for what you want to have going on there... if it isn't working against you then it is working for you, i guess you could say.

P.S. I, however, don't angle it like that... can't play matched on it like that so it throws that off. Guess i could get a remote snare so i could play matched on it and keep the snare angled forward
